Indian all-rounder Jayant Yadav scored a brilliant maiden ton against England at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. The leg-break bowler, who came to bat at no. 9, paced his innings silently along with skipper Virat Kohli and ensured that he stays on the crease. Yadav, with his brilliant knock, became the first Indian batsmen to score a century after coming on to bat at No. 9.
The Haryana player debuted for Indian in the opening Test match of the series against England and has proved his prowess both with the bat and the ball. He came on to bat when India were in a tough position after losing multiple wickets in quick succession at 364/7. Yadav and Kohli took the innings forward from there on.

Yadav laced his innings with 14 boundaries and was played with a level head. During his stay in the middle, the duo put together over 200 runs to extend India’s lead and take the match away from England’s reach. They also put together the most runs for the eighth wicket getting past the previous record held by Mohammad Azharuddin and Anil Kumble after they had put together 161 runs together.

Jayant has also scored two first-class hundreds for Haryana and one of them was a double ton. In the series, he’s scored 35, 27 and 55 runs.
