Confirming the news on his Twitter handle, du Plessis stated the injury will see him miss the next six weeks of action thus putting him out of contention for the remainder of the tournament.

With 206 runs, Faf is Pune’s second highest run getter and his exit from the tournament will only hurt the team’s chances after a poor start.

This isn’t the first blow to the franchise having lost Kevin Pietersen to injury already.

If he does stay out for six weeks as claimed, Faf also becomes doubtful for the tri-series in West Indies starting June 3 which includes the hosts and Australia.
