India and the West Indies Cricket teams were invited by the High Commission of India, Kingston, Jamaica prior to their second Test match beginning from July 30.
Virat Kohli, Anil Kumble along with other Indian cricketers as well as West Indies cricketers made an appearance at the prestigious event.
India is in West Indies for a four-match Test series under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. This is also the first assignment of head coach Anil Kumble with Team India.
Head coach Anil Kumble couldn’t have asked for a better debut for his new job.
India have already registered an emphatic win over West Indies in the first Test clash by an innings and 92 runs.
Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin bagged a total of 7 wickets in second innings to guide the visitors to this emphatic victory.
Ashwin produced an off-spin bowling masterclass to grab 7/83.
This was also the Tamil Nadu spinner’s first five-wicket haul outside the Asian continent.
India wrapped up West Indies for 243 in their first innings and then concluded the match after bowling out the Caribbean team for 231 runs in the second innings.
Earlier, India rode on skipper Virat Kohli’s double century to score a mammoth 566/8 in the first innings.
This is India’s first ever Test tour of West Indies since 2011 where they last visited the Caribbean islands under the captaincy of MS Dhoni and won the series 1-0.
This is Kohli’s first overseas series as a full time skipper after taking the reigns from MS Dhoni.
