Statistical highlights at the end of the second Test between India and England at Lord’s on Monday.

# India have produced a victory after failing to register a single win in their previous fifteen Tests overseas. The win is their second at Lord’s after 28 years and their sixth ever in a Test match in England.

# Under MS Dhoni’s leadership, India have won 27, lost 14 and drawn 14 out of 55 played – success % 49.09.

# Ishant Sharma has become the first Indian fast bowler to take seven wickets in the fourth innings in Tests. Javagal Srinath had taken 6 for 21 vs South Africa at Ahmedabad in 1996-97.

# Ishant’s figures are the fourth best by an Indian speedster away from home. Kapil Dev had taken 8 for 85 vs Pakistan at Lahore in 1982-83 and 8 for 106 vs Australia at Adelaide in 1985-86.

# Ishant’s figures are the fourth best in the fourth innings for India. Anil Kumble had captured 10 for 74 vs Pakistan at Delhi in 1998-99 – the best ever.

# With 272 dismissals (235 catches + 37 stumpings) has moved into the fifth place in the charts of leading wicketkeepers, overtaking the 270 (265 catches + 5 stumpings) in 81 Tests by Jeff Dujon (West Indies).

# Ishant (7/74) has recorded his best ever figures in Tests, outstripping the 6 for 51 vs New Zealand at Wellington in 2013-14.

# Ishant became the first Indian bowler to bag seven wickets in an innings at Lord’s. Actually, he is the first Indian bowler to take seven wickets in an innings in England.

# Ishant has produced six five-wicket hauls in Tests. His performance at Lord’s is his first instance of five wickets or more in an innings in a winning cause.

# Ishant’s tally of 25 wickets (ave.26.48) in four Tests this year is the highest by an Indian bowler. He is the first and only bowler to record three five-wicket hauls in Tests this year.

# Ishant’s performance is the fifth best by an overseas bowler apart from the best by a bowler from the sub-continent) at Lord’s – the best figures are 8 for 38 by Glenn McGrath for Australia in 1997.

# Ishant has received his second Man of the Match award in Tests – his first was for taking ten wickets against the West Indies at Bridgetown in 2011.

# Two Indian fast bowlers – Bhuvneshwar Kumar 6/82 and Ishant Sharma 7/74 – for the first time in a Test match, have bagged six or more wickets in an innings.

# Fifty four byes conceded in the Test is an unwanted record in a Test match in England. The 1905 Trent Bridge Test between England and Australia had witnessed 52 byes.

# Since registering a 74-run victory over Australia at Chester-le-Street in August last year, England have not won a single Test out of last 10 Tests, losing seven and drawing the remaining three.

# Under Cook’s captaincy, England have won nine, lost eight and drawn eight out of 25 contested – winning % 36.00.

# England’s above loss is their second in the last twelve Tests at Lord’s, having won eight and drawing two.

# Joe Root’s performance against India is excellent, totalling 326 in five innings (ave.108.66), including a century and two fifties.

# Root’s batting average of 84.42 at Lord’s is excellent – his aggregate being 591 in eight innings, including two

# Root’s 66 off 146 balls is his fifth fifty in Tests – his second against India.

# Ben Stokes has recorded his third duck in succession, including a pair in the Lord’s Test. Since recording 70 against Australia in the Perth ODI on January 24, 2014, Ben Stokes has registered 0, 5, 5, 4, 0, 4, 0, 0, 0 & 0 in international cricket.
