MS Dhoni may not have led his team to victory in the first ODI against Bangladesh on Thursday but he was at the center of controversy after the match.
In the 25th over the game, Dhoni played a shot towards mid-off and took off for a single. The bowler, Mustafizur Rahman, instead of going straight in his follow through, crossed the pitch without any intention to field the ball or gather a throw.
With Suresh Raina running on his right side, Dhoni was running straight and Rahman kept moving in Dhoni’s direction, risking a collision. Seeing this Dhoni stuck out his elbow and both players ending up in collision.
It seemed Dhoni shoved Mustifizur away but even the bowler intentionally moved in Dhoni’s direction. We will have to wait and see whether ICC reacts to the incident or not.
“I thought he will move and he thought I will move and both of us colliding because I had to take the smaller route as if I go around the bowler there is a chance the batsmen will be run-out,” said Dhoni after the match.
