India maintained the top rankings in ICC Test rankings released on Thursday. The Virat Kohli-led side gained one point and now have the total 123 points. The Indian side are followed by South Africa who trail them by 6 points.
India registered series wins against West Indies when they visited the Caribbean island last year while thumped New Zealand, England and Australia in Test series. Kohli’s side also defeated Bangladesh in a one-off Test match. Out of the 13 matches that they played on the hiome turf, India registered wins in 10 matches, lost 2 and one ended in a draw.
South Africa now has the table-toppers firmly within its sights after vaulting from 109 points to 117 points. This jump means the pre-update gap of 13 points has now been trimmed to just six points.
Australia are placed at number three with 100 points while at number four it is England with 99 points.
Australia might have sustained their spot at 3 but they have plummeted from 108 to 100. The swings for Faf du Plessis’s and Steve Smith’s sides have come after South Africa’s 2-1 loss to Australia.
Sri Lanka are at seventh spot while West Indies are at eight. Sri Lanka have gone up by one point and now have 91 points while West Indies are on 75 (up by 5 points). Bangladesh who take the ninth position are up by three points and have 69 points while Zimbabwe have dropped 5 points to be placed at tenth spot with zero points.
