India opener Shikhar Dhawan uploaded a pic on his Instagram account with his bats in the background. India play Sri Lanka in their next match of Group B. A win there would all but ensure their progression to the knockouts.
Shikhar Dhawan had opened the innings with Rohit Sharma in India’s first match against Pakistan. It was the first time in nearly 20 months that the two had opened an innings for India. Questions had been raised about the rationale behind Dhawan’s selection due to his inconsistency. But Dhawan justified the decision in India’s first match against Pakistan. Dhawan scored 68 off 65 balls and set up a 136-run opening partnership with Rohit Sharma. Dhawan was dismissed but Rohit, Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh took the attack to the opposition.
Sri Lanka come into the match on the back of a crushing 96-run defeat to South Africa. Captain Angelo Mathews may still be unavailable for bowling while his deputy Upul Tharanga has been banned for two matches due to slow over rate against South Africa.
