Former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar becomes proud father

Former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar revealed that he and his wife Rubab had a son on Monday. Akhtar made the announcement on his twitter handle.

His tweet says: “Guys, am ecstatic to share that me & begum have been blessed with a healthy baby boy just now. Oh what a feeling! Thank u Allah Pak (sic.)” He followed it up with another tweet that said, “Both Mom & little angel are fine. Getting a human life to dis world is surely d (sic.)biggest miracle. Rawalpindi Express is now a Proud Papa!!!” Shoaib Akhtar married Rubab on June 25, 2014.

Shoaib Akhtar had recently come under the media spotlight when he said that no international teams should be called to Pakistan considering the current security situation in the country. “Until there is a complete normalcy as far as security situation is concerned we shouldn’t take the risk of inviting any foreign team to Pakistan,” he said on Geo News channel. He made the comments two days after the terrorist attack on the police training centre in Quetta in which 62 police cadets and two armymen were killed and around 170 injured, Akhtar said that the security situation in the country was not good.

Shoaib Akhtar was one of the most lethal fast bowlers in his playing days. The ‘Rawalpindi Express,’ as he was known as, officially recorded a highest ever bowling speed of 161.3km/h in the 2003 ICC World Cup.
