The Supreme Court, on Monday, reserved its order related to the Lodha Panel recommendations after the BCCI requested more time for the implementation of the reforms. Earlier, BCCI president Anurag Thakur, in an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court, denied allegations that he stonewalled implementation of recommendations of Justice RM Lodha panel.

Thakur, in the affidavit, pointed out his conversation with former BCCI president and current ICC chairman Shashank Manohar, and mentions “Manohar explained to me when stand was taken by him, matter was pending before Court & was not decided.”

The affidavit further points out that “Manohar (when he was BCCI president) had taken a view that the recommendations of Justice Lodha committee appointing the nominee of CAG on apex council would amount to government interference and might invoke an action of suspension from ICC; therefore requested him that being the ICC Chairman can a letter be issued.”

On Saturday, during a special general body meeting of the Indian cricket board that was called to discuss the possibility of implementing the reforms recommended by the Lodha panel and directed by the apex court, the BCCI reiterated their stand that the members stood united and the call to not accept the recommendations in totality was unanimous. Meanwhile, Vidarbha, Tripura and Rajasthan are going ahead and accepting all the Lodha reforms unilaterally and Hyderabad Cricket Association has pledged compliance in an undertaking to a lower court.

The Supreme Court has already frozen BCCI’s fund transfer to its state units. Several state bodies have written to the board about how lack of funds will affect their domestic cricket but many heavyweight associations are waiting for the order before making the next move.

During the October 6 hearing Gopal Subramanium, a senior lawyer and amicus curiae, said that the new administrators should be of “impeccable stature and integrity” without any criterion attached. So, if the court rules in favour of appointing an independent panel of administrators, the members could be from inside or outside the cricket set-up.

Enough of this dodging by the BCCI.The Supreme Court instead should order them to implement the recommendations . It is obvious the BCCI is only buying time and reluctant to disturb the status quo.

BCCI is playing double game. On one side they blackmail ICC that it will quit and on other side they will say we will be banned from ICC if any government has influence on BCCI.

It appears that Mr Subramanium has forgotten the fact that this is India and his demand is unachievable.

BJP/ Congress/ NCP. Top sports persons need administrative experience. There is no denying the fact that Srinivasan was instrumental in scaling up the game to the highest possible level. he was not a sportsman. There was one Mr. Sriraman of TNCA. (He is no more). Able administrator. Therefore, playing the game and administering the game are different ball game. Let us keep our restraint please. Like I said in the other comment, weeding out corruption is one thing and in the name of weeding out what is being discussed is almost poisoning the game (by overdose of bitter medicine).

No. GS was denied Judgeship of Supreme Court by BJP lead Government. Anurag Thakur is BJP's MP. 1 1 = 2. Gopalji is showing his true colors now. Whatever it is, BCCI is the richest cricket board and our Team is the best in all forms. Too much of nectar is also poisonous. I think, Hon'ble SC can take up corrupt people and/ or practices. It appears that SC wants to take over the administration of BCCI. This overdose will definitely kill the game and this will prove to be a negative treatment. (or) side effects of strong medicine.

I think Supreme Court knows BCCI executive committees members are installing the Court order for Lodha Commission as on implementation they will not have any power to play with the funds which they are getting thousand of crores every year. All political parties have members in BCCI executive committee and they are one who gets major booty from income from BCCI. Who will like to kill the goose who is giving them golden eggs ... Yes it is true some BCCI members would be exposed and it might effect their pol carrier as well. So better wisdom for political parties would be leave the BCCI and do what you are good in doing it...
