Ganesh Chaturthi is the festival celebrated across Maharashtra in honour of Lord Ganesha. On this day, devotees pray to the God for prosperity and unhindered new beginnings, while some bring idols to their residence and celebrate the festival with close ones. Also known as ‘Vinayak Chaturthi’ or ‘Vinayaka Chavithi’ the festival is a 14-day long celebration. On the eve of ‘Ananta Chaturdashi’, the idols are immersed in water bodies.
Rahane, who scored 254 runs in the just concluded series against the West Indies, will be seen in the Test squad against New Zealand in the home series that starts on September 22.
