Ace Indian shuttler and world number two, PV Sindhu, has slammed Indigo airlines after undergoing an unsatisfactory experience during her flight to Mumbai on Saturday. Sindhu, who was travelling from Hyderabad, took to Twitter where she recalled her ordeal and went on to accuse an airline ground staff of behaving rudely with her. Naming the member of ground operations, Mr Ajeetesh, Sindhu stated that not only did he behave badly with her but also spoke rudely to an air hostess who had tried to intervene.

“Sorry to say ..i had a very bad experience😤when i was flying by 6E 608 flight to bombay on 4th nov the ground staff by name Mr ajeetesh(1/3)”. she wrote and added, “Ground staff (skipper) Mr Ajeetesh behaved very badly and rudely with me. When the air hostess Ms Ashima tried to advise him to behave properly with the passenger (me) but to my surprise he behaved rudely with her.”

“If this type of people work for a reputed airline like Indigo they will spoil their reputation,” she further added.

However, Indigo has refuted Sindhu’s claims and stated that she had boarded the flight carrying an oversized luggage which was not fitting into the overhead bin. Accordingly, she was informed that it would be moved to the cargo hold of the aircraft (as per policy followed for all customers). Indigo also rejected claims of misbehaviour by the member of ground operations and went on to say that he remained calm and after several requests finally consented to remove the bag.

This not the first time that a sportstar has been miffed with an airline company. Earlier, legendary batsman, Sachin Tendulkar had expressed anger after British Airways did not confirm a waitlisted ticket of Tendulkar’s family member despite seats being available.

Indigo is steadily but surely turning into a very dangerous private monopoly in the aviation sector. If one closely monitors, almost 80 of their flight are hand baggage, leg space is terribly and boarding is a harrowing experience, particularly at Delhi. On the top of it, as usual, aviation regulator, DGCA, is a mute spectator towards such serious violations.DGCA will come down heavily on Air India for even a minor violation but will shut its eyes towards serious violations by private Airlines. High time that aviation regulator curbs fleecing of flyers by private airlines like exorbitant and unchecked dynamic fares, huge cancellation charges and many other things where flyers are being held to ransom. In US and other developed economies, cancellation charges are virtually nil and here there is absolutely no mechanism that regulates cancellation fees or dynamic. Sad that because of corrupt politicians and inefficient bureaucrats, and vested interests , AI has been consigned to flames.

Indigo is a very arrogant airline. They tease passengers in the name of flight security. The airhostesses are seldom taught basic human courtesy. They also make long unwarranted announcements virtually demeaning passengers with long noise pollution. The prime seats even if occupied are put on through pre recorded messages making the announcements more abrasive than true . At check in counters , the service is at the lowest level, where every body is treated as a thief and all his belongings are literally snatched and weighed. They charge you even if you carry 250 grams of extra weight whether it is medicines or old man's stick. Getting through check in does not end the ordeal...even in flight, the food distribution is purely commercial. You are looked down if you do not buy but ask for drinking water. Pity such an airline has become leading airline due to default in our deprived economy.

Indigo is an excellent airline. The crew and ground staff are courteous and professional. I have travelled often. That they will ill treat a sports celebrity is outrageously unbelievable. I don't believe the allegation
