The Pune city police have detained two juveniles lodged at the Jawaharlal Nehru Udyog Kendra Observation Home in Yerwada for allegedly thrashing and having unnatural sex with a 16-year-old inmate, following a past dispute, in the early hours of Thursday.
Authorities of the observation have lodged a complaint in this case at the Yerwada police station. Police have accordingly booked the two juveniles under sections 377, 323, 506, 34 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 3 and 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act.
Police sub inspector A P Lohar is investigating the case. Police said that about 20 days before, some seven to eight juveniles had a quarrel inside the observation home. The boys vandalised the office of the observation. An offence of rioting was registered at the Yerwada police station in this case. Police detained the accused boys and being minors, they were again lodged at the observation home.
Police said that following this dispute, two juveniles who were accused in the rioting case blamed a 16-year-old inmate saying that because of him a complaint was registered against them.
The two juveniles then allegedly thrashed the boy and then had unnatural sex with him. The incident took place between 11 pm on Wednesday and 2 am on Thursday. “Medical test of the victim boy has been conducted. Further action is being taken as per the law,” said sub inspector Lohar.
