Letelier’s Chiliean colleagues in Washington, all exiles, pointed an accusing finger at the junta.

Orlando Letelier, who served as late president Salvadore Allende’s foreign minister, defence minister and Chile’s ambassador to the US, was killed in a bomb blast in Washington, days after the Chilean junta had stripped him of his citizenship. Letelier’s Chiliean colleagues in Washington, all exiles, pointed an accusing finger at the junta. However, the American authorities said they had no clue about the identity of the criminal or criminals or their motives.

Frog Eats Snake

A Shillong-datelined report said people had seen a frog swallowing a snake in the Satribari area of Guwahati. One of the spectators, a chief security inspector with Indian Railways, said it happened in the backyard of his neighbour, Tarun Laskar, an advocate. When he rushed to the spot, he found a big frog gradualling gulping the snake – about six inches of the reptile was already in the frog’s mouth while the rest was inside a hole.

World Bank Pat

India seems to have weathered in short-term problems by checking inflation, the World Bank annual report said. It says increased supplies of both agricultural commodities as well as industrial raw materials, together with control on demand, enabled the government to check inflation.
