Mahe to be declared open defecation free on Nov 11

She said the slogan 'My Puducherry, Swachch Puducherry' should be the driving force to realise the goal of Swachch Bharat in the union territory.

The union territory of Puducherry would be declared Open Defecation Free (ODF) on October 2 next year, Lt Governor Kiran Bedi said on Tuesday. Mahe, an enclave of Puducherry in Kerala, would be declared an Open Defecation Free region on November 11, while Yanam enclave in Andhra Pradesh would be declared ODF region on December 31, an official release said.

The union territory’s Karaikal enclave in Tamil Nadu would be declared (ODF) on March 11 next year.

She said the slogan ‘My Puducherry, Swachch Puducherry’ should be the driving force to realise the goal of Swachch Bharat in the union territory.

    The local governments in India are corrupt and so there is are lack of toilets for every citizen. The people who are building these mega malls and housing societies should be made to build more common toilets for the surrounding areas.. There is too much money from construction that is being stolen by builders, politicians and local thugs,
