Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari’s rap song articulating her anguish at the death of her mother, former Pakistani premier Benazir Bhutto, may be clocking thousands of hits on YouTube but her father President Asif Ali Zardari can’t bear to listen to her pain. Eighteen-year-old Bakhtawar sang about the pain she and her family felt at the sudden death of her mother in I Would Take The Pain Away. But Zardari can’t bear to listen to it. “I’m too weak. We mourn her as long as I’m alive,” he said. The President is also yet to read Benazir’s last book Reconciliation: Islam,Democracy, and the West for the same reason. The family has locked up Benazir’s bedroom in their home in Dubai, where she lived in self-exile for many years.
