Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will lead a delegation of ministers, party MPs and officials from his state to Pakistan next month on a week-long visit that the Centre hopes will further the dialogue process between the two countries.

Nitish is scheduled to visit from November 9-16,on the invitation of some Pakistani parliamentarians and universities.

He will visit Karachi,Lahore and Islamabad and possibly also travel to Multan and Rawalpindi, according to the tentative programme being prepared for him. He will cross over to Pakistan through Wagah.

It is expected that the CM — whose visit has the blessings of the Prime Minister’s Office, home ministry and the Ministry of External Affairs — will also make courtesy calls on top political leaders of Pakistan, and possibly carry messages from Indian leaders.

Interestingly,in 2003,Nitish’s bitter rival and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad had visited Pakistan and won himself a huge fan following with his earthy humour and one-liners.
