Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor is among the few to have spotted a silver lining in the gloomy days of economic crisis. At a media interaction last week,he analysed how the slowdown could help the Armed Forces mitigate the shortage of officers. His logic was that the defence services would become more lucrative with youth finding it difficult to land jobs in the civil sector. With the kind of recession that is existing on the civil side,possibly the demand for careers in the defence services,in the service of the nation,may well go up, he said.
