The strike by oil company officers which resulted in a huge shortage of petroleum products was criticised across the board,but the agitating employees got support from some unexpected quarters. The Maoists felt that the oil officers,most of whom earn more than Rs 1 lakh salary per month,were making a just demand. The Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) also issued an appeal to the people to bear with the inconvenience caused to the transport system and stand by the staffers.
