Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Uma Bharti has renewed her threat to set on fire the first Walmart store that opens in the country.

“I will torch the first store and go to jail (for arson),” she said in Indore today,as she attacked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for “selling out” in order to improve his image in the “international market”.

While the BJP had issued a similar warning earlier, she reiterated her threat today in the wake of the Centre’s decision to allow FDI in retail.

She said the Prime Minister should have resigned instead of taking decision aimed at pleasing foreign companies.

In 2007,Bharti,who was then heading the Bharatiya Janshakti Party, had forced a Reliance Fresh store in Indore to shut down, claiming that she would have set it on fire if it had been a Walmart outlet.
