Two Indians were killed and another injured when suspected members of radical Islamic sect Boko Haram attacked a factory in Nigeria’s troubled northern city of Maiduguri

Two Indians were killed and another injured when suspected members of radical Islamic sect Boko Haram attacked a factory in Nigeria’s troubled northern city of Maiduguri.

“Suspected members of Boko Haram attacked a Gum Arabic Factory located at Bayan quarters,Maiduguri metropolis on Thursday at about 10:00 hours during heavy rain,” a spokesman of a military Joint Task Force,Lt Col Sagir Musa told PTI.

“The incident led to the death of two Indians,one was wounded and is receiving treatment at the State Specialist Hospital,” he said but couldn’t give the name of the Indians.

The killed were Shankar Saha and Bakul Mandal while the injured person was identified as Biresh Yadav,official sources said. They said the Indian High Commission was in touch with the company and families of the killed and injured to extend all help required.

Meanwhile,Lt Col Musa said the suspects went away with an amount close to $450 from the attack premises. According to him,investigation is on to apprehend the suspects.

Boko Haram has been waging a sustained war in Nigeria’s northern cities with a stated aim of installing an Islamic emirate in the country.
