A city court Wednesday extended the police custody of alleged Lakshar-e-Toiba (LeT) bomb expert Abdul Karim Tunda for 10 days to allow the Special Cell of Delhi Police to carry out sustained interrogation into the conspiracy behind the 1997 Delhi bomb blasts.

Tunda had earlier been interrogated in custody over allegations that he had assisted Pakistani nationals illegally enter India. But on Wednesday, police told Metropolitan Magistrate Akash Jain that Tunda had been declared a proclaimed offender in twin blasts near a procession in Sadar Bazar on October 1,1997 which injured 30 people. They requested Tunda’s custody for sustained interrogation into the case. The judge extended Tunda’s police remand to allow the police to “unearth the links of conspiracy and links of accused with terrorist organisation and financiers”.
