The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has asked the DoT to look into the global roaming solutions offered by Israel-based Skuku.com to GSM customers in India. In a letter to his DoT counterpart,Trai secretary R K Arnold said,“An Israeli company,Skuku.com,is providing global roaming solutions to GSM customers in India. A release on the website PRLog.com mentioning availability of such services in India is enclosed.”

However,it is not clear whether the company has obtained any license from DoT for providing such services in India,it added. “Service offered by Skuku.com,prima facie, extends the home network of service providers beyond the service area, which violates the provisions of various licenses for telecom services and the Indian Telegraph Act,1885,” the letter said. The release said its service allows users to make international calls to and from India at local airtime rates.
