D’Lo is a Tamil Sri Lankan-American,political theatre artiste- writer, director, comedian and music producer. He is also queer — an identity that defines much of his work. One of D’Lo’s pieces,D’FunQT ,for instance,is “filled with humorous musings and stories of being a transgendered person who grew up in a strict immigrant family, trying to make it all work peacefully while radically and bizarrely challenging mind frames in choosing to exist unapologetically,” he announces on his website. D’FunQT will be presented in Delhi as a part of the Park’s New Festival on Sunday. The Delhi chapter of this performance arts festival begins on Saturday, with a concert by American clarinetist Shanker Tucker, and ends on Monday with a dance recital by celebrated dancer-choreographer Akram Khan.

Tucker brings together Indian classical music and western popular music. For the Delhi performance,he and accompanying performers will work on the thumri as well as present original pieces among others. Tucker’s YouTube channel, known as The Shrutibox, has attracted eight million views — winning him fans as well as critics. The latter wonder if Tucker can recreate the magic live on stage. This festival is a chance to find out.

The festival will be held at The Park and Kamani auditorium from September 15 to 17. Contact: 8042064969
