Crime Branch officials said on Friday that they are approaching authorities in Kuwait,Russia and the US after the 26/11 probe revealed that an e-mail account used by the perpetrators was accessed from Moscow,Kuwait and Chicago.
According to the chargesheet,the terrorists were constantly in touch with their handlers in Pakistan on cell phone numbers that were connected to New Jersey-based VoIP service provider Callphonex. Investigations revealed that someone identifying himself as Kharak Singh used the e-mail ID email@example.com to communicate with Callphonex and create an account.
The Cyber Crime Investigation Cell of the Crime Branch found that this e-mail ID was accessed from at least 10 IP addresses,which were traced to different addresses and senders in Pakistan,Moscow,Kuwait and Chicago. Sadatullah and Khurram Shahzad allegedly accessed the e-mail ID from an IP address located at the Special Communications Organisation office at Rawalpindi,and Sajid Iftikhar from an IP address in Lahore.
