Appealing to voters in the name of Telangana,Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday asked people of the region to punish all those who had betrayed them after making promises of carving out a separate state as soon as they came to power. Modi was launching the BJP’s campaign in the Telangana region with a massive public meeting at Karimangar.

Extolling people of the region to show their strength Modi said “pick and punish all those who have betrayed you in the name of Telangana and exploited and took advantage of you”. Without referring to the Congress’ tie-up with the TRS in 2004,promising to make efforts to create a separate Telangana state,Modi accused the Congress and Sonia Gandhi of deceiving the people.

“I am coming from the land of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and the modern Vallabhbhai L K Advani has promised to create Telangana in 100 days if the NDA comes to power. I have no doubt that the NDA will be voted back at the Centre and Telangana will become a reality in 100 days as promised,” he said.

After arriving at the SRR Grounds in Karmimnagar,Modi immediately endeared himself to the crowds by beginning his address by greeting the people in Telugu.

Modi wound up his speech with ‘Jai Telangana’ and asked people to raise the same slogan. He repeated it three times and told them to be shriller in chanting the slogan so that the ‘Delhi Sultanate’ could be shaken and defeated.
