A day after two Congress activists were suspended for seeking Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s candidature from Phoolpur constituency, the duo Thursday began fast-unto-death in front of Anand Bhavan in support of their demand.

Shreesh Chandra Dubey and Haseeb Ahmad had put up a hoarding in the Civil Lines area saying Priyanka must contest since Congress president Sonia Gandhi was unwell and Rahul Gandhi was busy.

City Congress chief Abhay Awasthi said: “Taking cognizance of their act ,the panel has decided to suspend them.”

But the two activists remained defiant. “The hoarding does not express our feelings,” Dubey said, adding the idea had come from the city Congress committee during a meeting last Sunday.
