Vijayant loses in ITF Futures event
CHANDIGARH: City player Vijayant Malik lost in the second round of the singles category of the USD 10,000 ITF Futures event in Thailand. The top ranked player from Chandigarh lost 3-6 3-6 to Kento Takeuchi in straight sets. Vivek Shokeen was demolished 0-6 1-6 by Korea’s Jeong Suk-Young. Kaza Vinayak Sharma,Karan Rastogi and Rupesh Roy had lost in the first round. Meanwhile,unseed pair of Ashutosh Singh and Shokeen lost their doubles semifinal 2-6 1-6 to hot favourites and local top seeds Sanchai and Sonchat Ratiwatana.

Saupin’s Gold Cup from tomorrow
CHANDIGARH: Saupin’s School,Sector 32,Chandigarh is organising an Inter-school Cricket Tournament for Under-14 from August 21 at Banyan Tree School,Sector 48,Chandigarh. The schools which are keen to take part in the tournament can contact coach Deepak Lohotiya on 7837631500. Players born on or after 01.01.1997 are eligible to participate in the tournament. Eight teams will compete against each other in the tournament.

Hockey tourney from August 22
CHANDIGARH: The ninth edition of the SN Vohra Memorial Sub-Junior (U-14) Hockey Tournament to be organised by Rock Rovers Hockey Club,will be held from August 22 to August 29. Teams from Punjab,Haryana,Delhi,Rajasthan,Karnataka and Chandigarh will take part in the event.

CHANDIGARH: The eighth edition of the Administrator’s Challenge Cup All-India Football Tournament for boys under-17 will begin from September 1 to 9. Sports meet on September 1
Chandigarh: The Democratic Youth Federation of India and Guru Gobind Singh Sports Club Village Dadu Majra,Chandigarh in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra an Municipal Corporation,Chandigarh,is going to organise Annual Rural Sports Meet on September 1 and 2 at Guru Drona Acharya Stadium in Dadu Majra village.
