Emmy-nominated filmmaker Jenny Ash is planning to helm a biopic on reggae music legend Bob Marley.

The British filmmaker is developing a project about the Jamaican singer-songwriter,focusing on the time he spend living in London,Deadline reported online.

Ash said, there is never been a fiction film about Marley. We have never had a sense of him as a real man,as opposed to the legend.

The Redemption Song hitmaker, who remains the most widely known and revered performer of reggae music, lived in the British capital in 1977,after an attempt was made on his life in Jamaica.

It was during these days that he hung out with the likes of the Sex Pistols and other punk rockers. The project will be produced by Greenacre Films Amanda Jenks and Nadine Marsh Edwards.

However, the sad part is that Ash does not yet have the right to use the songs of the legendary singer,a stumbling block which has left other planned biopics of Marvin Gaye and Janis Jopling in the shade.

She also did not confirm who will be portraying Marley.

The reggae singer died at the age of 36 in Miami due to severe melanoma and is survived by eleven children, according to his official website.
