Although Union Tourism Minister Ambika Soni was not given any organisational responsibility in the recent AICC reshuffle as she has to contest the Lok Sabha elections, she has been regularly attending meetings at the ruling party’s “war-room” at 15,Gurdwara Rakabganj Road, where top brains of the Congress meet every day at 7 pm to discuss the campaign strategy. Apart from Soni, others present at these meetings include the political secretary to Congress president Sonia Gandhi,Ahmed Patel,AICC treasurer Motilal Vora,Digvijay Singh,M Veerappa Moily and Jairam Ramesh. Incidentally,Ramesh has been asking people not to call it a “war-room” as it is basically a “hub” or a “meeting place”,which was earlier called a control room. “War-room” is just a generic term imported from American media,he argues.
