Singer Adnan Sami issued notice over expiry of visa

The fact that his visa expired came to light during a court hearing in a case between Sami and his former wife.

Mumbai Police Crime Branch on Tuesday issued a notice to singer Adnan Sami after his visa expired on October 6. “We have asked him to respond within seven days. He will have to regularise the period of his overstay by paying a fine,and could be granted a month on humanitarian grounds,” said DCP (Special Branch) Sanjay Shintre.

“As per rules,I applied for extension of visa to the Ministry of Home Affairs in New Delhi on September 14. This is a standard procedure followed by all foreigners and I have been following it for the past 14 years. This year is no different,” Sami said.

The fact that his visa expired came to light during a court hearing in a case between Sami and his former wife,Sabah Galadari,over possession of a duplex flat.
