Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singhs long silence is making many party colleagues uneasy. First the reason was presumed to be health. However,Singh has settled that matter by regularly attending office at Shastri Bhawan and spending an hour or two there, besides receiving a stream of visitors at home. Its his silence otherwise that is creating a disquiet. Even when A R Antulay made a desperate bid to emerge as the champion of minorities by questioning the circumstances of Maharashtra ATS chief Hemant Karkares death,Singh didnt utter a word. In the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks,in fact, the Congress president had to spur a reluctant HRD Minister to express his opinion at a Congress Working Committee meeting. Party colleagues are worried that this may be the lull before a storm.
