Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar Monday said Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi should desist from making vague allegations of corruption against his government and instead cite specific instances.

Shettar claimed that he had provided a clean government for the nine months of his tenure and that Congress leaders are probably referring to instances of corruption during the tenure of B S Yeddyurappa.

In a media interaction,he questioned the Congress’s move to target the BJP’s corruption while it is “surrounded by scams’’. “I admit there have been a few bad incidents, but we have provided overall development. Even in the tenure of B S Yeddyurappa there were good programmes. But in that period some corruption had taken place and the Congress is probably referring to this in its campaign,’’ Shettar said.

He accused Yeddyurappa ,who has split from the BJP,of being the B-team of the Congress. “Yeddyurappa has often accused me of several things. There is no question of back-stabbing,as he claims. Yeddyurappa targeting the BJP and not the Congress is an indication they have an internal understanding,’’ Shettar said.

Shettar said the BJP would get a clear majority in the polls. “People are saying there is no wave in favour of any party but in the last week wherever we are going we are seeing a wave in our favour,’’ he claimed.

He said Narendra Modi’s rally in Bangalore where he targeted the Congress leadership and the UPA government has left the Congress weakened.
