PANAJI: Goa Governor B V Wanchoo has referred back the Lokayukta Bill,2013 to the Assembly,suggesting amendments to two clauses over which RTI activists and civil society groups had raised objections. Speaker Rajendra Arlekar Thursday tabled the Bill for reconsideration of the House. The Governor has asked the state government to reconsider two clauses — one related to deemed rejection and another related to fine for filing frivolous complaint. RTI activists had also objected to these two clauses.

Vijaykanth surrenders in court

TIRUNELVELI: Facing a non-bailable arrest warrant,MDK founder and Leader of the Opposition in Tamil Nadu Assembly Vijaykanth Thursday surrendered before a court here in connection with a defamation case filed by the Jayalalithaa government. A warrant was issued Wednesday after Vijaykanth had failed to appear before the court.
