Saradha group boss ‘wanted’ by Bengal cops

The Intelligence Branch of West Bengal Police has sent messages to all police units saying that Saradha group chairman Sudipta Sen is “wanted”

The Intelligence Branch of West Bengal Police has sent messages to all police units saying that Saradha group chairman Sudipta Sen is “wanted”.

Usually,such wanted notices are issued by the Intelligence Branch following directives from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said,“Sudipta Sen is in the northern part of the country. Police are looking for him. If anything happens,everybody will come to know.”

This was the first time the Chief Minister reacted to the recent closure of a large number of publications and TV channels in the state,many of which were owned or taken over by Saradha Printing and Publications Private Limited.

A senior Kolkata Police official said,“We have received a lookout message from IB. The message says that Sudipta Sen is wanted. We are looking for him.”

Sen is the chairman and managing director of Saradha Printing and Publications Pvt Ltd,which owns Bengal Post,Tara Muzik,Tara Newz,South Asia TV,Bengali daily Sakalbela,Urdu magazine Kalam,Bengali weekly magazine Paroma,Urdu daily Azad Hind,Hindi daily Prabhat Varta,and Guwahati-based Seven Sisters Post.
