Mayflower is the title of director Ranjith Shankar’s next film that has Prithviraj in the lead role. Another artist in an equally important role is yet to be finalised.

In a telephonic conversation with Screen, Shankar said,“I am planning to start shooting by March. Mayflower is a love story rooted in present day Kerala.” The film will be produced under the banner of Dreams and Beyond.

Ranjith Shankar had made a promising start few years ago. The engineering graduate from Thrissur made his directorial debut with Passenger, the Dileep-Sreenivasan-Mamta Mohandas-starrer that released in 2009. The film was a hit and won rave reviews. Shankar was hailed by many as one of the pioneers of change in present day Malayalam Cinema.

Arjunan Sakshi was Shankar’s second film,in 2011. It had Prithviraj playing the title role of Arjunan. Anne Augustine was the female lead. The movie highlighted issues concerning an average Malayalee. Though it won critical acclaim,it did not do well at the box-office.
