Yoga guru Ramdev was questioned for more than five hours Friday at Heathrow Airport in London. Ramdev is due to attend four functions of Patanjali Yogpeeth in the UK. He was on his way back from the US after attending a conference of world religions to mark the 120th anniversary of Swami Vivekandanda’s Chicago address at the Parliament of World Religions.

“Swamiji has gone to the UK to attend four functions of Patanjali Yogpeeth. At Heathrow,he had already cleared immigration and his visa stamped when he was asked to stay for a check of his luggage. This despite the fact that he has hardly any luggage with him. He is still inside but we are hoping he will come out soon. The embassy knows about his plight and the Ministry of External Affairs should answer for this,” said Ramdev’s associate Pramod Joshi.

Ramdev’s Patanjali establishment has extensive presence in the UK with several ashrams and an island in Scotland gifted by the yoga teacher’s

disciples.
