Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday announced the formulation of a ‘girl child policy’ in the state, aimed at making the government’s stand clear on issues like female foeticide, sex determination and the implementation of related laws.

Gehlot stated that the Rajasthan Chief Justice had also approved,in principle,to set up fast-track courts to expedite female foeticide cases in the state.

The policy was announced following a meeting between the CM and representatives from close to 250 NGOs on Friday in Jaipur. “This policy will set a direction for the future and reflect the vision of the government about girls. Activists and the government have to work actively to change society’s minds.”
