It’s been two days since three cousins, including a 12-year-old,were hacked to death in Mandothi village in Jhajjar district. A 20-year-old youth, identified as Ajay,a neighbour of the victims, has been arrested. Police said Ajay was angry because one of the victims,Sonu,20,harassed his sister.

According to Jhajjar SP Pattram Singh,a day before the murders, the accused had even warned Sonu, and Narendra,16,who was also killed. While Narendra was appearing for his Class 10 board exams, the third victim was their cousin,Manjit,12,a Class VII student.

“A day later, when the cousins were sleeping in a room opposite their house, the accused went with an axe and attacked Sonu first. He then turned towards Narender, and killed him too. Hearing the commotion,Manjit woke up and tried to flee. Fearing identification by Manjit, the accused killed him too,” said Singh.

But Sonu’s family claimed Ajay had an altercation with him last month as he said Ajay’s mother looked like a monkey.

“Manjit was an only son,he had come to the village with his mother to visit one of our relatives who had met with an accident,” said a family member.
