The journey between Gurgaon and Faridabad that was a traffic nightmare till now, will turn into a dream ride soon. The Gurgaon-Faridabad Road and Ballabhgarh-Sohna Road toll road is scheduled to open by the end of this month.

The construction of the four-lane road started in may 2009,and it has been built at a cost of Rs 800 crore.

Officials of Reliance Infra, the company responsible for the project, said the new road is expected to reduce the travel time between Gurgaon and Faridabad, and Ballabhgarh and Sohna to one and half hour.

At present, the commute takes more than four hours.

The stretch will have four toll plazas — two on Gurgaon-Faridabad road and two on Ballabhgarh-Sohna road.

The toll has been fixed at Rs 15 for cars and jeep,Rs 50 for tractors,Rs 100 for buses and Rs 200 for trucks.

Vehicles can also avail of

multiple entry pass for one day at Rs 22.

On the Gurgaon-Faridabad road, the first toll plaza is located 12 Gurgaon. It is a 14-lane plaza. The second toll facility is at the crusher zone and had 6 lanes.

On Ballabhgarh-Sohna road, one toll plaza will be located 12 km from Ballabhgarh and have three lanes. The second will be

at a distance of 28 km and have four lanes.

The authorities are also working on installing streetlights on the stretch.

Officials said the the sharp curves and steep rises of the earlier potholed road have been realigned.

The condition of the road has also been improved and its width increased.

To match the increase in traffic,Reliance Infra is also planning to install automated toll collection system to reduce the stopping time for vehicles.

At present, the corridor witnesses 36,000 vehicles per day. The figure is expected to rise by 8 per cent next year.

The stretch is also used by many heavily loaded trucks due to as many as 140 crushers located in the vicinity.

The Gurgaon-Faridabad stretch connects the economic centres of Haryana,Rajasthan,Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

Reliance Infra officials also claimed that the road will also have several traffic calming devices like speed-breakers,traffic logix, speed tablets, etc.
