The Pakistan Army says troops backed by artillery and helicopter gunships have killed 26 militants near the Afghan border. The army said in a statement on Saturday that the militants were killed in an operation in Mohmand,a frontier region where security forces have been battling Taliban militants for months.

“Twenty-six insurgents have been killed during a successful operation by the security forces in the Sapri region of Mohmand district,” the Frontier Corps said in a statement.

The operation comes a day after a suicide attack at a mosque in Khyber. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the bombing. Officials said that the death toll had climbed to 70 as more bodies were dug out of the debris on Saturday.
