One person was killed and seven were injured in clashes between the police and BSP supporters,who were protesting the gunning down of BSP leader Virender Singh Nangli the previous day,in Churu district in Rajasthan on Saturday morning. The police resorted to firing when an irate mob of BSP supporters tried to torch a police station in Shadulpur after pelting stones at the police. Though Nangli’s assassins are yet to be identified,BJP MP from Churu Ramsingh Kaswan’s name was also included in the FIR for criminal conspiracy.

Taking serious note of the situation,Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot convened a high-level meeting with senior Home Ministry and police officials on Saturday morning and ordered an inquiry into the entire incident

The state Government announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the family of the deceased along with financial assistance for the injured and said the inquiry would be completed in a month’s time. Meanwhile,five police constables were suspended following the incident for dereliction of duty.
