She once called Narendra Modi a “pseudo Hindu’’ and a “small fry’’ and the one who, along with veteran L K Advani, had caused more damage to the cause of Hindutva than anybody else.

With the Congress set to use her old speeches by distributing CDs to embarrass her and the BJP,Uma Bharti Thursday said they belong to the time when she was with the Bharatiya Janshakti. “Things have changed, situation changes and thinking changes,’’ the former chief minister said after she sang paeans to the Gujarat CM saying,“The future of the country will remain safe in his hands’’.

Bharti said the BJP was forced to declare him the PM candidate because that demand was raised by the people. She said Gujarat was “free of corruption’’ and a “number one” state in terms of development and law and order situation and good governance. Calling the distribution of CDs a work of the dirty tricks department of the Congress, the BJP vice-president asked the Opposition party to stop doing it because “surveys have showed Gujarat in good light and I have also changed my opinion’’.
