Two days before his proposed fast at Jantar Mantar,Baba Ramdev Friday targeted Prime Minister Manmohan Singh but, unlike Team Anna, refrained from leveling any specific charges against him.

Ramdev plans to hold a day-long fast, alongside Anna Hazare,Sunday to draw attention to issues of black money and corruption. The protest comes almost a year after the Delhi Police cracked down on his protest rally at Ramlila Maidan.

Ramdev told a press conference Friday that though he had “immense respect” for the prime minister and did not doubt his personal integrity,“his political honesty is under a cloud of suspicion”.

Noting that he and people like Anna Hazare have been accused of weakening democratic institutions and spreading anarchy,Ramdev said: “The prime minister does not take responsibility for actions of his ministers… It is not we but the prime minister who is weakening the democratic system by not taking action.”

He added: “What is the difficulty in setting up Jan Lokpal? What is the difficulty in ordering a probe if your ministers are not corrupt and what is the problem in changing the corrupt system?”
