OilMin launches LPG portability

As in the case of mobile phone operators,one can now opt for a better LPG dealer without much effort. Under the LPG portability scheme launched on Saturday by the petroleum ministry,a consumer can opt for a supplier within a group of distributors in the vicinity by registering on the LPG company’s website.

The scheme is currently available in 24 cities.

Petroleum minister M Veerappa Moily also launched the scheme of sale of 5 kg LPG cylinders at market price through company-owned-company-operated petrol stations. It is on a pilot basis in Bangalore,Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.

One can purchase these cylinders with any proof of identity by paying Rs 1,000 for the cylinder and Rs 250 for regulator. After registration,one would be entitled to refills at the price applicable at the time of purchase. This scheme would benefit migrant professionals who have no permanent address.
