National Housing Bank (NHB) in association with TERI today launched an IT toolkit to predict the energy performance of real estate projects in the country,a move aimed at promoting green building,a company official said.
“IT Toolkit: ResbuildIndiaunder is focused on bringing energy efficiency in the untapped huge residential sector,” NHB Chairman and Managing Director R V Verma said here.
The need of the hour is to encourage various stakeholders to use this tool,he said,adding,sustained sensitisation is needed for generating passion among customers that can play a pivotal role in popularising this tool.
Under the promotional programme for energy efficient new residential housing,he said,banks and housing finance companies are eligible to receive NHB-Refinance for home-owner loans to fund the purchase of certified energy efficient apartments.
The real estate project has to achieve 30 per cent or more energy savings so that refinance can be availed by financial institutions.
KfW of Germany,is providing a credit line of 50 million euro to NHB for re-financing housing loans for certified energy efficient housing units.
Besides,KfW is also providing technical assistance of 1.5 million euro for energy efficiency certification and labeling,marketing and training of key stakeholders such as housing developers,energy auditors,and housing finance institutions.
