Actor and BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha on Tuesday said that no one can become the NDA’s prime ministerial candidate without the blessings of L K Advani. He cautioned Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi that “there is many a slip between the cup and the lip”.

Sinha said: “Senior leaders like L K Advani,Jaswant Singh,Yashwant Sinha,M M Joshi and Sushma Swaraj have been ignored. But Modi should remember that nothing is final till BJP parliamentary board takes a call on the NDA’s PM choice. Dilli abhi door hai.”

Sinha clarified that he wasn’t sulking. “I am not for a lollypop role in some committee. My stature is too big for such roles,” said Sinha.

Referring to Sushil Kumar Modi’s statement that Narendra Modi wave was akin to Atal Bihari Vajpayee wave,Sinha said that Vajpayee was BJP’s tallest leader and hence, cannot be compared with anyone. He said that currently,Advani was the tallest leader serving the party.

“We have heard his views. Party president Rajnath Singh will take cognizance of it,” BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said in Delhi.
