The lockout at the Manesar unit is costing Maruti Suzuki India Rs 90 crore each day. The unit has come to a standstill after the July 18 violence,which claimed the life of a senior company official and injured hundreds.
The loss has been estimated by Assocham on Wednesday. The industry body said that the lockout at the Manesar plant has affected over 650 units and has threatened closure of many ancillaries in the 60 km Gurgaon-Manesar-Daruhera belt employing nearly one million workers.
DS Rawat,Assocham secretary general said that there are tier III suppliers supplying to main component suppliers and therefore significant direct employment and production losses arise out of the lockout.
The statement comes after the city police arrested seven more workers involved in the violence from various parts of the city.
