Criticised by the media on a number of issues,Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday launched an attack against the press and warned media houses not to “cross the lakshman rekha”.

Alleging that a section of the media was presenting “distorted news everyday” against the government,Mamata, while launching a Bengali newspaper, warned media houses that she “knows” how to launch a “counter attack”. “There is a limit to everything. No one can impose his/her personal opinion on people. No one should display arrogance. Freedom is your right, but don’t impose your freedom on others. Don’t think that you have secured the right to do anything just because you have a pen in your hand,” she said.

Defending her government’s decision to disallow entry of a section of newspapers to state-aided library, she said it’s the government that would take a decision in this regard.
