Close to 21 female terrorists are being trained in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) by the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) to carry out terrorist attacks and sabotage activities in India, intelligence inputs received by the Army suggest.

A specialised training camp located at Divalia near Muzaffarabad in PoK is being used to impart military training to women and LeT will soon try to push them into Kashmir through infiltration routes on the Line of Control, the Army officials have said.

“It has been confirmed that 21 female terrorists are being given full military training by LeT in the special camp. The aim is to conduct operations against security forces in India,” an official said. Intelligence inputs suggest that the women militants will try to infiltrate into India using the Uri route or will attempt to enter through a third country. There have been several cases of terrorists using the Nepal or Bangladesh route to infiltrate into India in recent years.

Intelligence inputs available with security forces suggest that LeT has christened the female terrorist wing as Dukhtareen-e-Toiba and is trying to activate its cells in Kashmir.

Sources said that the group is the brainchild of top LeT commander Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, who orchestrated the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai.

While this is the first time that specific details of a terror camp for female militants have emerged, there have been several indications in the past that female terrorists have been imparted training by Pakistan based groups.
