Two persons were killed by a leopard near Adegaon village in the Moharli range of Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) buffer zone Wednesday morning.

“Tukaram Dharne,65,from Adegaon was killed around 7 am while he was collecting mahua flowers by roadside. Even as we were doing panchnnama, around 10 am,70-year old Malanbai Mumghate, also from Adegaon, was attacked by a leopard about 150 metres from the spot while she was walking to the village along with a few relatives,” Divisional Forest Officer Kalyan Kumar said.

Eyewitnesses said the animal jumped from a tree on Malanbai to kill her.

“Looking to the proximity between the two spots,we believe the attacker could be a single animal,” Kumar said. Angry villagers demanded the animal’s immediate capture. “We have put up cages to capture it.” he said.
